Shape
The brown cap is hemispherical and covered with white warts. Rain and friction can easily make them disappear. The gills are white in color. The white stem, robust in the young stage, gradually becomes slender. It is inserted in a volva.
Name
Amanita Pantherina refer to the brown-and-white spotted appearance of the cap which bears some resemblance to the two-tone coat of a Panther.
Habitat
Among leaf litter in all kinds of woodland but particularly under beech trees.

Europe and Western Asia.
Flavor and odor
Unpleasant or like raw potatoes, toxic.
Culinary notes
Its consumption as a food is strongly discouraged.
Medical uses
It is a poisonous mushroom, but not deadly. Like the fly agaric, it contains ibotenic acid and muscimol whose hallucinogenic properties have designated it for shamanic use for the purpose of ecstatic intoxication. It causes violent digestive disorders and dissociative psychotropic effects.
